Daniela Fialová, PharmD, PhD
Dr. Fialová works as a chief researcher and clinical consultant in Rational Geriatric Pharmacotherapy at the Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology, Charles University, and General Teaching Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic. She is a lecturer in geriatric pharmacology, pharmaco-epidemiology, and clinical pharmacy at the First Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University, Czech Republic.
Her research and clinical work is devoted to pharmacotherapy risk assessment and management in geriatric patients: drug-related problems, suboptimal prescribing, efficacy and safety of medications in combined drug regimens. Dr. Fialová received her ward certification in clinical pharmacy in 2001 and absolved clinical pharmacy training at the University of Iowa, USA (2002), and Lothian Primary Care NHS Trust-Pharmacy Service, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Scotland (2003). She also studied geriatric pharmacoepidemiology during her research stays at the Department of Geriatrics and Physiotherapy, Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy (2004), and at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Bordeaux, France (2006). She defended her PhD degree in 2006 and received several awards for the scientific work: Research Award of the Czech Medical Association J.E. Purkyn (2005), Award in Pharmacy of the French Ambassy in Prague (2005), Awards of the Dean, Research Award of Dr. Paul Janssen for Pharmacoeconomics and Drug Policy (2006). Dr. Fialová became a member of interRAI in 2005 and a full Fellow in 2009.
