Katharine Murphy, PhD, APRN, GNP-BC
Dr. Murphy is a graduate of Boston University's Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Program and the Florence Heller Graduate School for Advanced Studies in Social Welfare at Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, USA. She has over twelve years of experience as a gerontological nurse specialist in a nursing home and as a clinical consultant-educator to residents, families, and interdisciplinary care providers. She has done primary research in the areas of physical restraints and delirium in nursing home residents. She has looked at the distribution of outcome and quality indicators within nursing home populations, how they change over time, and worked on analysis of covariate structure for most outcomes.
Dr. Murphy was one of the lead developers of the nursing home Minimum Data Set (MDS) and accompanying users manuals, version 2.0 training materials (November, 1995) and version 2.0 questions and answers (August, 1996).
