Chung-Fu Lan, PhD
Dr. Lan has been a professor and researcher at Yang-Ming University, Taiwan, since 1978. He is currently a professor in the Institute of Health and Welfare Policy. After earning his DDS and MS degrees from the National Taiwan University, he was awarded a DrPH from John Hopkins University in 1978. He also studied at Harvard University in 1986–87 as a Takemi Fellow.;
For more than two decades, Professor Lan's research interests have centered in health economics and health policy, with an emphasis on long-term care policy issues. Professor Lan has taken an active and enthusiastic role in academic, professional, and policy activities. He has held appointed positions as department chairman, director of the graduate institute, and the presidency of the Taiwan Public Health Association and the Taiwan Association for Healthcare Quality. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Maryland, Harvard, and Tulane. During 2000–2002, he served as the president of Tzu-Chi University. He is an elected Fellow of both the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is invited frequently to advise governments, providers, and consumer groups on health, aging, and long-term care policy.
