Mary L. James, MA
Co-chair, interRAI Training Committee
Mary James recently retired from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, as an associate research scientist in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care, Michigan Medicine. Previously she held a variety of positions in Michigan state government, where she was instrumental in the development, administration, and evaluation of home- and community-based services for people who are elderly or disabled.
Her longtime interest in data-driven public policy is reflected in her work with a number of US states to adopt, interpret, and utilize interRAI instrument systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of assessment practices, telephone screening, level of care determination, nursing facility transitions, and resource allocation strategies. She co-chairs the interRAI Training Committee and is coauthor of the interRAI Self-Report Quality of Life (QOL) Screener and interRAI Intellectual Disability (ID).
