Terry Rabinowitz, MD, FAPM
Dr. Rabinowitz is associate professor of psychiatry and of family practice, University of Vermont College of Medicine, Burlington, Vermont, USA, and director, Psychiatric Consultation Service, Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vermont. Dr. Rabinowitz earned his MD degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1989. From 1989–1993, he was a resident in adult psychiatry, McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Previously he graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a DDS degree, and holds an MS in pediatric dentistry from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Rabinowitz is board certified in adult psychiatry, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with added qualifications in forensic psychiatry. In 2002, he was awarded a Profiles of Courage Award from the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Rabinowitz is a member of the interRAI oversight committees involved in the development of interRAI Mental Health (MH) and interRAI Palliative Care (PC). His principal areas of research in interRAI deal with cross-national comparisons of psychiatric illnesses as well as the side effects of psychotropic medications, palliative care issues including the effects of psychiatric illness on decision-making in the terminally ill, delirium at the end of life and pain, and the interaction between psychiatric illness and comorbid medical conditions.
